Our history

Our History

Brussels International Ballet was founded in 2005 by Anderson Santana and began training young dancers aged 4-15.

Over the years, Anderson's passion for teaching classical ballet and his dedication to his students led him to realize that there was a need for a more advanced dance education program. He had seen his students' potential and wanted to allow them to develop their skills further and pursue a career in classical ballet. Young talents have also expressed a desire to move towards semi-professional or professional training. Courses have therefore been developed to meet these needs. After careful consideration, a new structure has been developed to move in a direction that allows us to provide a framework that meets the highest level of ballet education.

Along with his experienced Artistic Team, Anderson developed a rigorous and challenging program that would help students achieve their full potential and prepare them for a dance career. Brussels International Ballet quickly became a hub for aspiring dancers, attracting students from all over the region who were looking for the best possible ballet education.

To facilitate educational programmes for the rapidly growing number of students, Anderson decided in 2012 to move the school to a new location, where after a period of intensive renovations, the school was finally able to offer 3 large dance studios in the heart of Brussels. The school was inaugurated in the presence of several personalities, including Benoit Cerexhe, the mayor of Woluwé-Saint-Pierre, who became and remains an important supporter of the school.

In 2013, Anderson created the Brussels International Ballet’s most advanced division, the Professional Training Program, a rigorous 3-year program that prepares students for professional careers and, upon graduation, for auditions with international ballet companies. With its excellent reputation and carefully designed structure, BIB and its programmes have become a destination for international students from all over the world who want the highest possible classical ballet training in the region. Anderson Santana and his artistic team have always had the goal and vocation of teaching classical ballet with great adaptability and respect for tradition. With this goal in mind, the school has grown over the years to offer a comprehensive programme of professional ballet training.
